Meet Suki, the Toe-Spreading Champion of Shikaru A by ToesAndTales on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Suki, one of the top kunoichi at Shīkaru Academy, wasn’t just known for her impressive fighting skills or her impeccable stealth. No, Suki had earned a unique reputation for something else entirely—her incredible, almost legendary, toe spread.

From the very first day she arrived at the academy, everyone noticed. During her first warm-up session, while others were stretching their arms or cracking their knuckles, Suki was doing something... different. She was sitting cross-legged, spreading her toes like it was some kind of special ninja art form. Her toes would stretch out, each one fanning out from the next like the delicate branches of a tree, but far more coordinated—and somehow, incredibly intimidating.

Word spread quickly (pun intended), and soon enough, Suki’s foot skills were a spectacle.

“Is that even humanly possible?” one student whispered to another as they watched Suki, who was lounging against a tree with her legs up, casually fanning out her toes. The spread was wide enough that you could probably hide shuriken between each toe, and there were rumors that she could even pick locks using just her feet.

Suki would joke about her “gift,” claiming that her ability to spread her toes so far apart was what gave her superior balance. During stealth missions, while the other kunoichi were carefully tiptoeing over branches or sneaking across rooftops, Suki had perfected her technique of silently gripping surfaces with her toes. Once, she even scaled a vertical wall, using nothing but her feet to cling on, like some kind of ninja-gecko hybrid.

Her toe spread was so impressive that one day during sparring practice, her opponent was momentarily distracted by the sheer wideness of her toes. As they prepared for a quick attack, Suki simply grinned, fanned out her toes, and suddenly, her opponent froze in confusion.

“What... what are you doing?!” they exclaimed, completely bewildered by the toe action.

In the blink of an eye, Suki had them disarmed, pinning them to the ground—her victory already secure. “Never underestimate the power of toe flexibility,” she laughed, offering them a hand to get back up.

Suki’s favorite pastime, when she wasn’t training, was challenging the other kunoichi to “toe dexterity” contests. One such contest involved grabbing a dumpling with her toes, tossing it into the air, and catching it in her mouth—all while maintaining her signature spread. Not only was she quick, but her toes had almost prehensile control, moving independently like tiny ninja fingers.

But despite her playful nature, Suki’s toe-spreading prowess had real tactical advantages. On one particular mission, she and her team were trapped in a tight spot, unable to use their hands while hanging from a precarious ledge. While others scrambled to hold on, Suki calmly wrapped her toes around a nearby branch, her feet doing all the work while she devised an escape plan.

In fact, the academy had once tried to implement a rule about wearing shoes during official training sessions. Naturally, Suki protested. “I can’t deprive the world of this talent!” she declared dramatically, spreading her toes as far apart as possible for emphasis. The shoes never lasted more than a day. They just didn’t accommodate her “foot artistry.”

So, while some kunoichi were remembered for their speed or strength, Suki was remembered for her infamous toe spread. And anytime she wanted to freak someone out—or break the tension before a mission—all she had to do was casually stretch out her feet and give her toes a little wiggle.

“Careful,” she’d say with a smirk, “You never know when these babies will strike.”
