Nata - Cleric Aasimar - DnD character by Tropic02 on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

My latest character! I really hope I get to play her soon! Here is her backstory if you're interested :). Ah and sorry for my bad english!

Nata was born in a loving family in a very prosperous farmer village. She was born special, her eyes seemed to glow the purest light when she became excited. It shocked her parents but they knew it was a sign of good luck. There were tales about these special humans. It was said that they brought peace and joy in the heart of others. And so, Nata was treated as a gift by her whole village. She was very much loved. The young blessed child had everything anyone could want, she was delighted, but all goods things come to an end.
When she was about 8 years old her village got attacked by a slave trader. They took all the women and children and tortured them into submission. As for the men and elderly, they beheaded them right away in front of their loving wives and children. Nata who was only 8 years old could not understand all the horror that was happening in front of her eyes. All she knew is that her fathers head was rolling onto the grass. She began to glow a faint light around her, attracting the attention of her captors. They knew right away they had hit the jackpot. Specimen like her were indeed a rarity, especially at a young age. They locked her up in a special cage all by herself. They tortured her senseless to discourage her of ever running away. Nata grew quiet, her eyes became empty and her body grew more scars every day. The only thing she had left was a faint glow inside her mind that would prevent her from going insane. She did not know what it was, but it kept pulling her back to reality at her darkest times. She hid in her mind in that special place of hers, where the warmth was still there. It gave her hope amidst all the pain.
She was kept in a cage for 3 years and heavily tortured every single day. One terrible evening when she hadn't eaten for days, she looked at one of the slavers with demanding eyes. Even crumbs would be enough to ease the pain. The cruel man couldn't stand the look in her eyes and cut her face, rendering her blind in one eye.
At her eleventh birthday it was time for her to get sold to her new master, she had hit puberty and was ready to become a wife. She could sense what was happening to her, she knew it was gonna be the end for her. Her body would be soiled and even the physical scars she bared would seem trivial in comparison. She panicked, she felt suffocated, the day was coming near.
At the faithfull full day, the slavers stripped her, gave her a cold shower and proceeded to clothe her with a near transparent robe. It was time to sell her. When she got on the stage in front of all her potential buyers she was lost. She didn't know what to do, she asked the light in her head to help her somehow. It was the only hope she had and she focused on it with all of her mind.
Suddenly, whether it was coincidence or not, a mysterious man came crashing into the auditorium, interrupting the auction. She was blown away by how amazing the warrior was. He was moving with such determination and dexterity, none of the slavers could stop him. He easily rendered them incapacitated and drove the potential buyers away. He noticed the poor girl kneeling on the stage and decided to come to her aid.
He gave her his cloak to warm her and broke her chains. He could sense she was special and was like him. He told her that once she was strong and old enough that she should use her strength to help others like he was doing. He gave her his brooch so that she could always remember him and how he had given her freedom, hoping that she would go on the same path as him. Finally he informed her of a trusted priest that could take her in until she was ready to go out in the world on her own. The warrior had other slaves to free and so he was gone as quick as he arrived.
After the whole incident she went to the other slaves hoping her mom or anyone from her village was still there, but to no avail. She was very far from home, on a totally different continent. She sweared she would try to find her mom and free every slave she ever encountered on her path. Her scars would serve as a reminder of what she went through and she knew they would keep her on a path of righteousness and justice.
