The Bath House - Morning by Tsukimusha on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

After 3 weeks of hard work, I can finally present my latest illustration, The Bath House - Morning, a tribute to my favorite movie of all time, Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away. I first saw this movie when I was 14 and it has had an enormous effect on my life. Everything from the interesting characters, inspirational storyline, and especially the mysterious intrigue of the spirit world continues to inspire me to this day. I've been wanting to do a Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli fan art for some time but I always find that the things I love most are difficult to pay tribute to, as I want to do justice to the source material while also creating a piece that doesn't feel derivative. Here, I decided once again to take inspiration from my favorite print movement, Shin-Hanga, to stylize the illustration.

Here's the morning variant of the bath house illustration. I took inspiration from the first morning scene in the movie, before Chihiro goes to the pig pen, with the fog rolling up. You can see Haku flying on the top right :) If you enjoy this, I've set up pre-orders for prints and metal prints in my online store.
