Steven wasn't actually sure what to make of the girl.

She was slender and surprisingly tall for her age, even a bit taller than Connie. And while the rest of the Gems seemed unsure or even frightened by the thought of other Gems still alive on earth, Steven couldn't really find himself scared of the shy looking girl.

"So, you're like me, right?" He asked, a small smile crossing his face.

She perked up, slightly startled by his forwardness. It seems she had expected a similar reaction from the other Gems from him. She returned his smile with one of her own.

"Oh yes. I mean, I think so. My mother left my parents a lot of information before she died, about herself and gemkind." She stared at her feet, pausing a moment before continuing. "My parents, my adoptive ones, thought she was insane. Well, that is until she disappeared and I was here."

They both laughed a bit at the ridiculous thought, but it was a quiet one.

The girl suddenly looked up. "Hey, while my parents and your, uh..."

"You can call them my family." Steven laughed.

"Oh, yes, sorry. While your family and my parents are discussing my, um, situation, maybe we could... I dunno, go do something? I'd imagine it might be awhile." She shrugged, gesturing down the porch to the sandy beach, the waves lapping again at the shore.

"Sure! Actually, I was planning on meeting my friend Connie." He perked up.

"Oh! Will I be intruding?" She looked a bit shy, very immediately conforming to her demure appearance. "I wouldn't want to disrupt any of your plans."

"No, of course not!" Steven laughed. "Connie would love to meet another Gem like me."

She brightened slowly, "Okay, as long as I'm not intruding... Where is your friend?"

"She should be near the Big Donut. She said something about getting a few donuts before meeting us. Oh man--- she wouldn't have bought one for you!"

She laughed a little as the two began walking down the wooden steps to the beach. "Oh, it's fine, really. I had lunch before we went out."

"Okay, but next time I'll buy you two donuts." Steven promised as the two rounded around the temple.

Quite suddenly, the two bumped into Connie, who was lucky enough not to fall into the sand with two donuts in her hands.

"Oh hey, we were just talking about you!" The shorter boy laughed, helping Connie regain her balance.

The blonde gave a small laugh as well, "I'll assume you're Connie?"

"Yes, I am." She nodded, giving a welcoming smile. "Connie Maheswaran. Although, I'm at a disadvantage..."

"Angel. My name is Angel Phantom Quartz. Well, my parents named me Angel Diane Roy, but I prefer my mother's name."

"Wait-- Quartz?" Connie suddenly noticed the orange gem on the taller girl's neck, recognizing it as what it was rather than a necklace as she had originally assumed. "Does that mean--"

"Haha, yup!" Steven put a hand on Angel's shoulder. It was a stretch. "She's half-human like me!"

The human girl blinked slowly a couple times, processing the existence of two hybrids. Rather than freaking out, as Angel had been nervous of, Connie simply nodded and gave a calm smile.

"That's really cool." Connie's calm smile turned into a wide one as she instinctively went to adjust the glasses she no longer had.

The taller girl blushed slightly. "Thank you. I think."

"Hey you two, c'mon! Let's go on the beach!" Steven shouted as he began racing towards the waves.

Connie and Angel exchanged looks before chasing after him, eventually hold each others hands as to not lose their balance on the sand.

"I don't have a bathing suit though." Angel frowned.

"I've got a shirt you can use back at the temple." Steven laughed.

Connie snickered, "Yeah, it's a really good one too."

Needless to say, the donuts were forgotten.
