Mika and the Modern Art Trick

The theater was packed with an eager audience. Mika stepped onto the stage of the magic show greeted by a wave of applause. She smiled, feeling a sense of pride. The magician gestured to the sleek, modern-looking cabinet at the center of the stage.

"You might have seen the Sawing a Woman in Half illusion before. But you’ve never seen it like this. Tonight, we will perform a cutting in half illusion like no other," he announced. "Mika, if you would please step into the magic cabinet!"

Mika stepped into the cabinet, standing inside as the magician locked the doors. The audience watched in rapt attention as the magician secured the cabinet with metal latches. He then picked up a gleaming metal blade, its sharp edge catching the stage lights. He asked Mika to look at it and touch it to make sure it was real. She gasped at the size of his enormous blade. Mika looked so surprised to see it and feel it with her fingers.

With a flourish, the magician pushed the blade through the cabinet. The sound of the blade slicing through the cabinet startled her. Mika focused on her breathing, staying perfectly still and remembering what she had learned to do during rehearsals. With a firm push, the magician pushed in a second blade and completed the cuts. He then separated the two halves of the cabinet, revealing Mika's upper body contained in one half and her detached legs standing in the other. The audience gasped, their eyes wide with astonishment.

The magician walked around the stage with the cabinet in two halves, showing the audience that there were no hidden mirrors or tricks. This illusion was angle proof. He even invited an audience member to inspect his lovely assistant’s stockinged feet to prove they were really hers. Mika wiggled her pretty toes for the spectator examining her feet and he confirmed that everything appeared genuine. Wow, Mika’s own foot really was sticking out of the hole at the cabinet’s base.

Now it was time for the magician to reassemble the cabinet. He tapped the sides, and the latches clicked open. Mika stepped out from the cabinet, whole and unharmed. The audience erupted into applause, cheering and clapping.

Backstage, Mika was in her dressing room. The magician looked at her, a proud smile on his face.

"You were fantastic, Mika," he said. "You sold the illusion perfectly."

Mika smiled, feeling a deep sense of accomplishment.
