I don’t know about you, but while reading the third Harry Potter book, “The Prisoner of Azkaban,” I often found myself wondering about Lupin’s state of mind during that time.
The focus is, of course, on the main characters, but I have a habit of thinking about the secondary characters in the book, even when they are not mentioned.
I’ve often imagined Lupin getting up very early, before anyone else in the castle, and taking a walk around the property, lost in his thoughts.
He’s a man who has lost his closest friends, struggling with a curse he can’t undo and is ashamed of. It’s the little details, like what he does in the morning and how he spends his time, that really bring a character to life for me.
Here I wanted to express the deep emotions of pain, sadness, and suffering through this illustration, using the shadow that hides half of Lupin’s face. On the other side,
the morning sun illuminates part of the castle and his face, symbolizing the idea of new hope with each new day.
