History

Raiden grew up in a small village in the Kyushu prefecture. Being raised in a village near the trading ports, he had more contact with foreigners(the dutch) than your average kid(he’d follow the merchants of his village to the ports and watch their interactions). Due to this fascination, he learned and observed many things about the outsiders, such as their clothing and mannerisms, but most of all, their religion.

At the age of 14 his job was to help carry supplies/cargo to the ports, to trade with the dutch. One day, he was requested to help carry some of their products onto one of the ships, and that’s where he met a dutchman(who was actually one of the translators on board),a crew member of the ship.They had a few exchanges throughout that short period of time, and one included talking about Christianity. At the end of the day, he ended up converting into a christian. When it first happened, he told no one.

It was only until 16 years later, he came out, but the only reason why was because he had seen many people start to declare their faith and breaking boundaries. At this point though, he was married and with a child. His wife didn’t take it well, as well as the others in his village.

Within a year of him coming out, the government started mandatory regulations and punishments if they found people in villages/towns who were christian(the whole village would get punished for just one). His wife vowing to never speak to him again, and his village angry at him, he decided to leave, mainly for the sake of his daughter's safety.

He began to walk, and after about a year, he found Mizuyama. He took shelter at Mochi's abode briefly before getting his job as a doll maker for the town.

TL/DR History

Got rejected by the village, wife left him and took their baby. He left to keep his baby safe(legislature back then caused punishments to the whole village if they found even one christian in the group)

• The little patch in his yukata sleeve was from an old yukata belonging to his daughter
• He was a doll maker in his home village,
• If you have a crush on him, he’ll be completely oblivious to it. (him thinking objectively) You’d only want to be around him to learn about his work, or to actually get food together because you’re both hungry lol (just be upfront with him or else he’ll never know)
