Dilla died on Feb 10th 2006 from complications of Lupus (he was 32).He was well known and respected in the hiphop world and had produced classic tracks for both mainstream and underground artist such as Janet Jackson,Erykah Badu,Common,BlackStar(Mos def and Talib Kweli),A Tribe called Quest(and Q Tip),Busta Rhymes,The Roots,Proof,Dwele,Slum Village,De La Soul,Macy Gray,D'Angelo,Vivian Green,Ghostface Killa, Royce 5'9 and the list goes on...
he also inspired well known producers like Pharell (from the Neptunes),9th Wonder and Kanye West
