With this one I pay credit to the creation that inspired me from my young age to do art. "Oddworld Abe's Oddyssee" was one of the first games I got for the PS 1. I remember playing the game first on a demo-disc for Playstation, when I visited one of my friends just after he got this new mind-blowing console with ground-breaking 3d graphics, sound and cinematic cutscenes. The demo disc had a lot of games, most of which I don't even remember today- but there was this one game, which despite being a 2d platformer at the start of a 3d-era cought my attention. The game had a grim-dark tone with a pinch of humor, as you would maybe describe it today. It had very cinematic cutscenes for the time and featured creatures, strange and weird by design, yet still adorable. The fact that the game did not feature a single human or other earthly or close to earthly creatures already made the universe of "Oddworld" stand out for me.

Judging by the first two games alone, Oddworld is probably one of the best examples of creature design and creation of a certain mysterious and absolutely alien atmosphere. The world and its inhabitants were odd and weird, but somehow believable at the same time. The first two Oddworld games were my favourite games for a very long time. They are still one of those games I replay from time to time just for nostalgia's sake. And there really is little that comes close to it. As a kid I remember how I loved to rewatch the cutscenes and the showcase of the game's artwork, crafted by this world's creator, Lorne Lanning.

I loved Lorne's drawings as a kid and always wanted to be like him, to have a creative mind like his and learn to express it with drawings of quality on par with his. Oddworld characters were the first, that I really tried to draw good as a kid. It is very well possible that my artistic hobby in fact started with Oddworld. And here goes my credit to Lorne Lanning.

In this drawing I used the classic design for the creatures with some alterations by myself- like making some body parts bigger or smaller. I hope you enjoy it and leave a like or a comment.
