"from the criminal chronicles of the city of Unterburg:

(...) the criminal woman listened to numerous accusations and evidence with a calm face. When the court sentenced her to hang, she was only interested in where the sentence would be carried out. When she heard that they would hang her on the bridge, in full view of the whole city and the sailors passing by, she seemed very pleased. She immediately ordered a festive dress and skirt to be brought to her, and when the prison guard made her aware that the custom was to hang criminals wearing only a penitential shirt, she gave the executioner her new shoes so that he would break the custom. She declared that she would rather give him a gift than be robbed by justice workers. She said that for such a long record of great crimes, she deserved a decent performance for a large audience at the end."
