Clyde McBride and other Black Kids by WillM3luvTrains on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

And now a little experiment: Clyde McBride with other black kids!

Although Clyde has his friends Lincoln, Liam, Zach, and Rusty, I do wonder what it would be like if Clyde had some black friends, friends that are the same race as he is. And ridiculous as this sounds, wonder if he gets lonely being the only black one among his friends, I'm also wondering that about other black cartoon characters that hang out primarily with white cartoon characters such as AJ (Fairly Odd Parents,) Quincy, (My Dad the Rockstar,) Gerald (Hey Arnold,) Vince (Recess,) Carver (The Weekenders), Goby (Bubble Guppies) and Carl (The Simpsons.)

Don't get me wrong, I do like that these black characters have white friends, some more white friends than others. Of course some of these black kids do have friends that are neither black nor white (for example, A.J also has Sanjay (Fairly Odd Parents) and Theo has Miguel (Maya and Miguel.)

But I wanted to see Clyde with other black kids and so I randomly drew a few more black kids in addition to him. And I did give them names.

From left to right (other than Clyde): Alawton Rochelle Myers, Eric Morteez, twin brothers Darell and Jarell, Watisa Butler, McKinley Everett, who likes to go by the name "Jambalaya," he's from Mississippi and loves Southern cooking. He has been to places like Louisiana (where I did think of having him from,) Alabama, and Georgia. I also wanted to give one of the boys a food nickname and I chose "Jambalaya."

The name "Alawton Rochelle Myers," I came up with that name back in 2010. "Alawton" is pretty much the name "Lawton," a last name some local friends of mine have, but I added an A at the beginning. And although her name is Alawton, she prefers to be called "Rochelle." Her middle name is pronounced "Ro-Shell."

I haven't came up with a last name for the twins yet.

Eric, the one in the white shirt and blue pants, he's the youngest, I'm thinking of making him 9 years old, maybe 8. Rochelle is supposed to be 12 years old, a little older than Clyde. Darell (red shirt) and Jarell (blue shirt) I think I'll make them 10 years old for now but may make them 11. Watisa is 10 years old and younger than the twins. "Jambalaya," is the oldest of them all and he's 12 years old too. He's also the only one, besides Clyde, that has a bean-shaped head.

Watisa is also supposed to be on the fat side. I mean she's not obese but I meant for her to be a little fat.

Although the characters are randomly created and randomly dressed, I modeled Eric after Liam as well as Carlino Casa Grande, by the shapes of their heads and their sizes, especially Liam's. Probably made Eric a little too short but I wanted him to be about Liam's size and I wanted him to have circle-shaped head.

And, I'll just call him by his real name, McKinley, I modeled his head after Lincoln's sister Lynn's head and gave him an afro. It wasn't easy coming up with a hair-do for him. And I also decided to give him overbite teeth since other Loud House characters have them.

Originally it was just supposed to be Alawton, Eric, Clyde, and the twins Darell and Jarell but I wanted a girl that was fat, shorter, and had a bun in the back of her hair, so I included Watisa, and I decided to add one more boy to the group, that being McKinley, who is supposed to be wearing a yellow T-shirt, a red flannel, and khakis. He also wears white sneakers like Lincoln does but without the orange accents.

The twins are also modeled after the Tekno Twins from "Street Football/ Foot 2 Rue" and a little after Jeffery and Jason from "Caillou." The twins also wear black sneakers. They're like Lincoln's shoes, only black and again, no orange accents.

It wasn't easy coming up with a design for all these characters nor a color for their clothing. And I'm not sure this is their final design. Mind you, I'm not so great at coming up with or creating Loud House style characters!

Now don't worry, Lincoln is still Clyde's best friend, nothing is going to change that, at least I hope not, and Liam, Zach, and Rusty also remain his friends, so does my O.C. Cody, but I thought I'd add some black friends to Clyde. They can also be Lincoln's friends as well as Liam, Zach, Rusty, and Ronnie Anne's, and also Stella, whom I'm yet to draw.

So now I have a few more Loud House O.C.s in addition to Cody and Malcolm. And I still have a few more O.C.s to create, including Cody's parents and a boyfriend of Lily Loud.

Although I came up with these characters and decided to give them names, I don't have much of a personality or purpose for these characters other than to give Clyde some black friends in addition to himself and in addition to his white friends. (ADDED: And I won't have a lot of art of these O.C. cartoon characters. So if you want to see more of them I suggest you draw them. END UPDATE)

My characters are free to use, to copy or even redesign if you're not satisfied with their design, even redress. This picture is also free to use, copy, remake, share, and repost on other websites, but please credit me for my drawing and my characters.

ADDED October 12: I came up with a last name for the twins. Darell and Jarell's last names are "Scott." I think Scott was going to be a middle name of one of the characters, probably Eric, but I decided it should be a last name for the twins, and named after a teacher in a school I went to. So Darell and Jarell Scott, everyone!

I might redesign Alawton's head and probably get rid of the name "Jambalaya." McKinley's nickname was pretty much random and I'm not sure I'm gonna stick to that. (END UPDATE)
