Vector Vengers: Sharon Carter Returns! by WolfeHanson on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

So Captain America was deed. After keeping him young and vital for decades, the Super Soldier Serum in his blood began to decay until his condition became too advanced and he literally lay down to die. Weirdly his body just...vanished. Wow, that's some Yoda crap right there, gang.

A short time later, terrorists in armored suits attacked Washington DC, taking hostages. They demanded that Captain America be the one to face them. But with him being secretly dead the Avengers had to try their hand at a rescue. But the event meant they had to go public with Cap's death.

Little did they know that entities unknown had stolen Cap's "corpse" moments before his death. They put him into suspended animation, much like how he spent the decades after WWII. And while Rogers was once again a frozen Cap-cicle, his kidnappers/saviors gave him a full blood transfusion, saving his life. Soon he burst from his medically-induced ice cube where was met with the sound of a woman's voice, talking to him over a speaker. He followed the voice only to find...his ex-girlfriend, Sharon Carter???

Wait, what? She died, right? Well, kiddos, no ever stays dead in comics. That's funnybook rule #1. Actually, Sharon was never truly dead. Nick Fury had faked her death so she could go on a secret mission overseas. But something went wrong and she had been disavowed and abandoned. She spent years undercover as a mercenary while also taking out as many bad guys as she could as she went. Unable to return home, though, she began growing embittered towards her former country. The country whose flag her ex wore to work everyday. Awkward.

At some point, the now very-angry-all-the-time Sharon began investigating some really bad dudes, and ran into a new benefactor who was also at cross purposes with those bad dudes. They teamed up and at some point decided the only person who could combat the threat they were facing was...Captain America himself. But you'll never believe who saved Cap's life...
