Narrow gauge armoured train by WormWoodTheStar on DeviantArt (original) (raw)
Last Sunday there was a reenactement in Opatowek near Kalisz, showing an encounter between Polish armoured train guarding the railway and German forces in September 1939. The combat was purely fictional, but it was based on several actual clashes during September Campaign.
The "armoured train" (named "Poznaniak", a nod to Armoured Train No. 12 "Poznanczyk"; both names mean "citizen of Poznan") was composed of: a platform with gun, a tool wagon, two assault cars with infantry, anti-aircraft car and locomotive (Lxd2).
(PS: Some time ago I wanted to write a series of short stories about civil war in Poland, caused by political clashes between pro-Soviet and pro-democratic forces in the 1990s, kinda like Yugoslav Wars. The stories were told from perspective of several improvised combat units, among them Narrow-Gauge Forces of Kalisz Land, who operated an improvised armoured train on Kalisz Commuty Line. The stories never went off the drawing board, but I wonder if I have ever told my cousin - who organised the whole reenactement - about them).
EDIT: I changed the colours a bit, this was the original version
