London Watchdog by writeddreams2reality on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

I’ve seen this big guy a few times over the years. A homeless man sometimes sits in front of the tube station near Big Ben with his massive St. Bernard.

It’s an interesting thought to see people are more likely to bring dog food for the pet, rather than donations to the man. But then this is a deep and wild topic because you could argue, the dog didn’t ask to have this position in life so of course you would help it… but same with the man? Or did he? Or do people have more sympathy with animals more than people? Or is it due to the tangled stigmas around homelessness and what or what did not lead to people being in this position according to where or how a passerby might place blame or judgment toward the man on the sidewalk.

It is not a topic with one answer. But it’s something that snarls my thoughts often, no matter where I am living at the time. And I reflect on it from a place of privilege, from within my own home and secure life… Food for thought…

I have a bunch of travel photos to share from 20
