The Royal Ambassador

It was a cold and damp September morning on the Island of Sodor. The mainline had been bustling with activity following a huge surge in passenger and goods traffic, which kept the Fat Controller’s engines very busy. But this wasn’t the only thing that had kept the engines’ interest peaked. To aid with the passenger traffic, the Fat Controller borrowed an engine from the Mainland named Duchess of Loughborough. She was a very beautiful steam engine with an eye-catching ivory livery and gleaming gold fittings. Rounding off her fittings was a golden crown emblem proudly displayed on her front, a symbol of her connection to royalty. For many years, she dedicated her services to the Royal Family, watching as the young Queen Elizabeth II went on to be the highly respected and influential leader the world would remember for years to come. Duchess had formed a close friendship with Her Majesty that lasted for years and even as she got on in years, she felt like their bond would last forever.
