Hauli was born into the Nguvu pride by a Male Guard and a short fling he had with a Rogue female- the mother wanting nothing to do with cubs and dumbing the only surviving brat of the litter to the father. Like many he was brought up in the way nguvu views females, and despite he never has been aggressive towards them, he is always pointing out their purpose and roles within the pride is to be hunters and mothers. The plague that raced across the lands affecting everyone, took the life of his own father though Hauli didn't care much. While he seemed like a son eager to please, inside he hated his nagging and controlling father- and maybe have even helped the plague take the older lion's life early with some rotten food.

The birth of the elderly king Hisada's sons was a blessing to the pride, though it left some concerns even after he named an heir before being murdered. While Hauli did not agree with the growing prince's laws that were in favor for females to be treated better- he knew better than to speak against the king. When Yaghzu was killed by tigers shortly after taking his place as king of Nguvu, Hauli did of course mourn the loss of royal blood but rejoiced when prince Veereth was crowned the new king of Nguvu- cracking down on putting females in their place within the pride.
