Description

The Old Swiss Confederacy was a complicated network of military alliances, protectorates and shared subject territories centered around a confederation of independent city states and peasant republics at the heart of Europe. It was eventually conquered during the Napoleonic Wars and reorganized into the modern Swiss Confederation.

In this map I have attempted to create a confederacy that was more successful in its ambitions during its era of expansion from around 1290 to 1530. This includes major changes such as retaining the Franche-Comté following the Burgundian Wars, not being crushed into geopolitical irrelevance at Marignano as well as more permanent minor conquests during the Swabian and Waldshut Wars.

As usual well thought-out lore and historical plausibility take a backseat to something I enjoyed making and that looks pretty neat.
