Heka ~ Egyptian Gods by Yliade on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Heka was the deification of magic, his name is the Egyptian word for "magic" or "magical "power".

Heka was also associated with the power of the written and spoken word as well as medicine and healing. Magic and Medecine were nearly the same practice for the ancient Egyptians.
Although Heka had no formal worship, doctors and other healers were called “priests of Heka” and often sought his assistance.

Heka accompanied the sun-god Ra on his barque during its daily journey through the heavens, along with the gods Sia (divine perception) and Hu (divine speech). He was depicted as a man holding two serpents crossed over his chest.
