Description

The approaches to the big Parisian railway stations, notably the Gare du Nord and the Gare d'Est (where I spent most of my time because our hotel was near there. Yeah, I know, but it was cheap) have lots of lovely old bridges going over wide interesting rail-scapes full of interesting trains… and you can't take any pictures because they put wire meshes everywhere that are just a bit too tight to put a DSLR lens through. Annoying. There's one exception, though: The bridge of the Rue la Fayette (America's favourite fighting frenchman) over the Gare d'Est, which is built of what appears to be pink concrete. That concrete can allow for some interesting shapes in pictures, like this one, featuring two single-deck TGVs (no I do not know enough to tell an Atlantique from a Reséau). The left one had just arrived.

It's not so difficult to divide them. All TGV has 8 intermediate cars, only the Atlantique has 10. Well, the Transmanche (Eurostar) has even 16, but definately has its very own design.

But in Paris it's even easier to find out which one it is. The Atlantique only runs at the Montparnasse station. So at every other station it must be a Réseau.
