Tutorial on the Creation of the Orchid drawing

One of the things that I see missing is a discussion around the process by which the art is created. My process may be different than others, but I wanted to try and share that and perhaps other people will get encouraged to experiment. First a little background. I had tried a lot of other art forms when I was younger - charcoal, oils, acrylics, watercolors etc. - and got stuck on two key points: The setup time for painting was painfully long. Through college, work, fatherhood, and more, getting a contiguous block of time to setup the paints, do some painting and then clean it all up again (assuming I didn't get interrupted in the middle) was unlikely at best. So, painting was not going to happen. I am very much a perfectionist with the art and I felt like with every other medium I was compelled to re-do portions of it as it wasn't ever "good enough". However with a pen, you better be done, because there isn't a good way to take the ink away after you put it on the page. In
