The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett almost missed his wedding to host the ITV show (original) (raw)

Schedule conflicts are a nightmare to navigate. Do you go for that post-work pint you've been thinking of for hours, or do you stay behind to make your boss happy? It's a toughie.

Spare a thought for Joel Dommett, then, who was recently faced with an equally troubling choice: fronting a brand new, prime-time TV series or attending his own wedding.

Of course, juggling your career and your relationship is a genuinely difficult thing, but Joel has since admitted to Lorraine Kelly that he considered rescheduling his wedding to Hannah Cooper for the opportunity to host The Masked Singer.

Appearing on today's (January 10) Lorraine, Joel recalled the moment his agent offered him the job. "They said '[ITV] want you to do The Masked Singer, although these are the dates'," he explained.

"I said to my wife, 'I think I've just been given a really big opportunity, biggest of my life, but it's the day of the wedding'."

Hoping to take a rain check on their prior engagement, Joel revealed that he asked his now-wife if they could "move" the big day. "She was like, 'No!', so luckily they managed to slide The Masked Singer back a little bit," he added.

Crisis averted.

Someone who ITV couldn't delay The Masked Singer for was Ken Jeong, as the judge will soon be temporarily replaced by Donny Osmond.

Davina McCall confirmed earlier this week that Donny, who appeared on the first season of The Masked Singer US, will be filling in for Ken as a guest judge for a couple of weeks.

The Masked Singer continues Saturday, January 11 at 7pm on ITV.
