Reacher's Willa Fitzgerald always knew she wasn't coming back for season 2 (original) (raw)
Reacher star Willa Fitzgerald has admitted she knew from the "get-go" that she would not be returning for season 2.
The actress portrayed the role of police officer Roscoe Conklin in the debut season of the Amazon Prime Video crime thriller, though won't be back for the second.
Talking to Digital Spy for the UK release of new movie 18½, she explained: "Yeah, I did know that from the get-go. I think that's a great opportunity to get to tell a clean and complete story, and then be able to walk away. I think it's a unique experience in TV.

"Oftentimes, you think you're going to get another season, and you don't get another season, and you're abruptly cut off. Or you think you're going to keep doing it, and then something else intervenes.
"So it's nice to have the agency to know that that is a complete, finished product. And it was also great to be able to start off the whole Reacher world."
Reflecting on the success of the show, Fitzgerald admitted that "it surprised all of us", explaining: "I don't think there's any guarantee that anything will hit, especially now with so much stuff being made all the time.

"It's the first season of a show. First seasons are a hard kind of nut to crack. You don't totally know what you're making until you've already made it.
"And I think it was a delight to all of us that it was so well-received, and so loved by such a diverse crew of audience members.

"Even from my own kind of experience, it seems like so many different people and so many different age ranges and interests were drawn to it and watched the whole thing, which is really very fun."
Reacher stars Alan Ritchson as the titular character, with the second season expected to land in 2023.
18½ is available to buy or rent in the UK from Prime Video, iTunes and other digital retailers. Reacher is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
