Exclusive: Fallout TV show cast respond to The Last of Us comparisons (original) (raw)
Fallout duo Walton Goggins and Aaron Clifton Moten have weighed in on the show's inevitable comparisons to The Last of Us.
Both incredibly popular video game franchises, Fallout and The Last of Us put players in nightmarish post-apocalypse scenarios, but that's about as far as the similarities go.
Ahead of the former's Prime Video adaptation - HBO made The Last of Us in 2023 - Goggins, who plays The Ghoul/Cooper Howard, exclusively told Digital Spy that comparison talk was "giving [him] a panic attack".

Moten, who breathes life into the Brotherhood of Steel member Maximus, went on to admit "there's a lot of weight" to fans putting the two adaptations in the same bracket, adding that he thinks that "comes from our love, care, and respect for the material".
"It was really, for me, doing the work, showing up on these sets with this detail, getting to work with Jonah Nolan [Fallout writer/director], having the camera roll, were all the things that made it all fall away and felt like the best playground to get as an actor and I felt extremely privileged to get the opportunity," the actor added.

This comes after original Fallout creator Todd Howard suggested the streaming series is superior to the games for being able to delve further into the characters.

"The one thing the show was able to do that we were never able to do in the games, and the ways that we would have loved, was show so much of the past, because that's one of the things that really makes the world of Fallout special," he told Digital Spy and other press.
"So the way the show mines that, Walton's character and the other things that occur in the past... they just did so many great things. And the way we discussed it, there was so much to mine there in the franchise."
Fallout premieres tomorrow (April 10) on Prime Video.
