Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts - Theatre Performance Concentration
The Theatre program mission is to provide rigorous, professional training in a liberal arts context for future actors, directors, designers, managers, teachers, scholars, and related theatre practitioners. The program is committed to the aesthetics of Black theatre, creating a globally aware artist while identifying, sharing, and perpetuating the highest standards possible.
In the Theatre Performance concentration, students delve into the art of acting, honing their skills through rigorous training and practical experience. The curriculum encompasses a diverse range of coursework, including voice and diction, stagecraft, and the analysis of dramatic literature. Students explore various acting techniques and styles while learning to inhabit different characters and convey emotion on stage. Through hands-on learning opportunities and participation in productions, students develop a deep understanding of the actor's craft and prepare for careers in theatre, film, television, and related fields.

This concentration provides specialized training in the technical aspects of theatre production, including stagecraft, lighting, sound, and set design. Students learn to operate and manage equipment and systems essential for successful theatrical performances. Through hands-on experience and coursework, students develop the skills necessary to support and enhance live theatre productions.
