What is the Patna Coaching Firing Case?

On June 2, a group of 15 to 20 individuals allegedly stormed the Khan Sir's coaching institute, Khan Global Studies (KGS) premises. During the chaos, a viral video surfaced showing two security guards associated with the coaching centre firing shots into the air. Upon the investigation, the police detained the two guards, who claimed during interrogation that they fired the weapons under direct instructions from Khan Sir.

Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Kadamkuan Police Station under Section 109 of the BNS and Sections 25(9), 27, and 35 of the Arms Act against three individuals, including Khan Sir.

In light of the incident, the Patna Police also issued an appeal to the student community, urging them not to be swayed by professional rivalries or competition between various coaching centres. "All students are requested not to be misled by anyone amidst coaching centre competitions. No compromise will be made regarding crime control and the maintenance of law and order," the statement emphasised.

A massive crowd of students gathered outside Khan Sir's coaching institute, a day after a firing was reported outside the premises. Large numbers of aspirants were seen waiting outside the coaching centre and raising slogans in protest as tension prevailed following the incident in which a security guard was reportedly injured. "We want justice. We want security. We want security," a student told ANI, while outside the institute.
