Get to know me

As a musician I was already very familiar with many different practice techniques when I started working with dogs. Recognizing the small component skills that can and need to be practiced separately and then put together to allow the learner to perform with ease and success are the same if you are teaching violin or a lovely loose leash walk. By tailoring the learning process in a completely judgement free atmosphere and respecting the inherent talents of the dog wonderful results are inevitable,
My love of dogs is boundless. Nothing makes me more happy than experiencing the mutual delight of excellent and direct communication!

Testimonials

“Elisabeth was one of the key people in helping maintain the spirit and integrity of Lola’s life. Elisabeth is a kind of dog genius. Her help cannot be overestimated and went far beyond what one can buy. Lolabelle loved her – we all loved her.”

“Elisabeth sees the world from the dogs’ perspective and she will give you a whole new view of your canine friend. She views “training” as education. This is a significant distinction. Suddenly, with her help, you and your dog are speaking the same language, learning and playing on the same page.”

We had gone through several trainers with our standard poodle Annie. We got Annie at four months and she was already fearful, aggressive, and barking non-stop. Elisabeth came to the rescue with her patience, humor and dog whispering talents. I highly recommend her. Your dog and neighbors will thank you!

I don’t know what we would have done without you! Winky is a very, very sweet fellow and quite well behaved thanks to you. People say what a calm and well behaved puppy he is. I cannot thank you enough for having gotten him to this point. I take him with me wherever I go and you have really made it all possible – Grazie mille!

Linda Rodin

Founder of RODIN Olio Lusso

We consulted with Elisabeth when our one year old chocolate lab needed some serious behavior training. Maggie barked at strangers and lunged at other dogs – we needed help. Elisabeth gave us various strategies to employ, and the results came quickly. Maggie is now the best behaved and most loving dog we’ve ever had.”

Evelyn Lasry

Principal, Two Palms

Where do I begin? Elisabeth is a treasure. We adopted our sweet pup just before lockdown in February 2020 and I knew she would be instrumental in training (our pup and us)! Then lockdown occurred, we moved out of NYC, and I panicked. Elisabeth to the rescue! She swiftly adapted and began offering us virtual training. She is a master and we are so thankful for her!

Elisabeth helped me train my dog Moa via online video lessons. With Elisabeth’s precise and motivating method, we made quick progress and Moa learnt as much as I did. I probably learnt more, actually. I understood the calm and steady process of training, how to be consistent, and look for responses to progress and challenge her.”

Elisabeth has been phenomenal in Oreo’s recovery after a serious leg injury. Her holistic approach and deep connection with our dog made an immediate impact. Oreo is now more agile and energetic than ever, thanks to Elisabeth’s expert care. We’re incredibly grateful for her knowledge, professionalism, and genuine love for dogs.”

Ramon Solhkhah, M.D.

Chairman, Department of Psychiatry

“It’s hard to say anything but “wow!” about Elisabeth. Working with her to train my psychiatric service dog hasn’t just taught (us both) commands, it set the tone for our entire relationship. My dog is not just able to sit, follow hand signals, etc. He’s thriving. He’s happy and so am I and it’s changed the way I understand learning. It’s an incredible gift to have this wonderful dog to work with my disability. She’s always available and happy to help. I recommend her to everyone; you can’t go wrong.”

“Elisabeth is the finest trainer of dogs and their owners we’ve encountered. In 1&1/2 hours she had Gigot, our wire doxy, walking beside her, heeling then sitting as soon as she stopped, looking up at her in calm. She provided him her undivided attention during the entire process with grace and sensitivity, barely verbalizing. Then she had us practice what we had observed with gentle prompts and correction. If you can’t train the owner, you can’t train the dog.
Thanks Elisabeth for also advising us regarding food and challenging interactive toys.”

What Is Inadvertent Reinforcement?

BEING MINDFULI always think that the best way to “train” a puppy is by reinforcing them in time. Of course, that requires us humans to be mindful enough to notice and observe our dogs just as they observe us. So often, I hear people say that their dog has trained…

Train Your Dog Month: In Consideration of Small Dogs

Challenging Size Stereotypes: The Importance of Training Small Dogs Dogs’ intelligence and prowess are all too often measured by their size. Generally, it is assumed that larger dogs need to be “trained” just because of their sheer size. Sure, a Rottweiler can cause more damage than a chihuahua. But is…

Don’t Expect The Impossible

Let’s Say You Have a Persistent Behavior Issue With Your Dog: I hear these complaints worded in such a way a lot… Fill in the blank: “When I want them to ____” “when we say____”, “when they see____”, “when they hear____” “When they are _______they do not _____” “What should…

Timing Is (Almost) Everything

Reward Placement I talk quite a bit about reward placement and delivery (thrown, rewarding directly to the dog, or on the floor in front of the dog, etc.); but I have not thought about clarifying the aspect of the timing of the reward. Reward Timing Here is a good example: …

Alphabet Soup

Common Puppy Behavior Challenges I often receive inquiries from people who are frustrated with their puppies’ overall behavior. “They don’t listen” “they jump” “they bark” “they pull on the leash” are very common complaints. How to train your dog to be calm

Here is a reminder of how behavior works

All reinforced behaviors will increase in frequency in the future. This includes behaviors the puppy finds reinforcing simply because they work in their favor or they are simply self-reinforcing because they are fun. For the latter great examples are barking and jumping. Barking and jumping very often get the puppy…

Interesting Session: Follow up on June
