The Best Horror Movies Streaming Now on Hulu (original) (raw)
Last Updated: November 6, 2024
Hulu goes big every Huluween and then slows down to give us time to continue working through the ghoulish October leftovers. So, I am not surprised they are not doing too much for us weirdos this November. The streamer is adding new shows like Her Deadly Night In Paris and dropping the second season of The Fiery Priest. They also have throwback movies like Hollow Man and Ghost Rider for those who want a side of chaos with their Thanksgiving turkey. More importantly, they have five things I am really excited to watch as I try to hide from reality this month.
Check out my top picks on Hulu this November.
Aliens (dir. James Cameron)
After surviving the Nostromo incident decades earlier, Ellen Ripley is sent back into space. What was supposed to be a simple mission leads her to battle the Alien Queen and her offspring. I hate that this is one of James Cameron’s best films because it is impossible to forgive that they put Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez) in Brownface. However, this action-packed sci-fi horror movie imprinted on many of us. Possibly because it was a fun follow-up to one of the best sci-fi horror films ever made. Also, it is hard to deny the pull of a movie that stars Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn. I will begrudgingly rewatch this because going to space sounds great right about now.
Lazareth (dir. Alec Tibaldi)
Lee shields her nieces from the outside world, but an outsider threatens to wreck their tranquil lives. I want to know more about the world she is supposedly protecting her orphaned family from. I also want to know why this stranger is threatening to shatter it. However, what made me lean forward when looking into this new title is a specific name on the cast list. I often talk about how I miss the 1990s era of Ashley Judd thrillers. Movies like Double Jeopardy and Kiss The Girls are part of my DNA. They are the reason I have an appreciation for this subgenre. So, I love that Judd is still doing the good work in 2024, and I am excited to catch this on Hulu.
Missing (dir. Will Merrick and Nick Johnson)
A girl uses the internet to find her mother, who went missing in Colombia on a trip with her new boyfriend. This is possibly one of the most gripping screenlife mystery thrillers I have ever seen. I also love that it allowed Nia Long and Storm Reid to work together as they play mother and daughter, respectively. Both actors are powerhouses, so seeing what they brought to this mystery set in the digital world was pretty epic. It was a way better follow-up to 2018’s Searching than I expected, and I need more people to check it out posthaste. I also support watching both movies back to back because Missing references its predecessor in fun ways.
Poolman (dir. Chris Pine)
An unwavering optimist spends his days looking after his apartment block and fighting to make Los Angeles a better place. This comedic mystery is Chris Pine’s directorial debut, which I have been hoping to see since I found out about it last year. He also co-wrote the script and is the star in what seems like a cool moment that flew under many people’s radars. The cast also includes Annette Bening, DeWanda Wise, Stephen Tobolowsky, Clancy Brown, and Danny DeVito. So, if nothing else, the acting is going to be outstanding.
FX’s Say Nothing: Complete Limited Series
This period docudrama thriller follows four generations in Northern Ireland during The Troubles. It specifically examines the abduction and murder of Jean McConville, a woman accused of being a spy. The series is based on Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe. This means it is probably also of interest to true crime fans, as well as people looking for new limited series thrillers. The entire series hits Hulu on November 14 and has only nine episodes. This makes this a quick binge and introduces us to a topic many of us could stand to learn more about.
