As we were staying at Mains Cottage we visited the Castle for a guided tour. There were 4 in our party and we had Moira as our guide. We all thought that her knowledge and presentation was both really interesting, and amusing so we would give her an Excellent rating. Our whole weeks stay has been totally enjoyable.

"Spent an enjoyable few hours there. The playground presented numerous activities which are suitable for all ages. Having some canvas covered benches and seats is a good touch for when it rains or alternatively if shade is required on hot days. The garden settings with the castle as a backdrop are stunning. Well worth the long drive from Glasgow."

"The best stately home we’ve visited by a long way. Our guide Moira was brilliant- knew everything about the house and all its fabulous contents, delivered with humour and authority. Awesome history, amazing collection of artwork and furniture. Really nice cafe, good menu and decent value. Added bonus of bikes to hire from Rik, the coolest bike shop person ever. Good bike trails with superb views."
