ELY CITY WI FORTY NOT OUT!

Ely City WI have celebrated their 40th anniversary and held a special meeting to mark this momentous occasion.

Joined by the Mayor and Mayoress of Ely Members were treated to a display of WI memorabilia, photographs and stories covering the history of the group including key events and meetings that had taken place.

With our longest serving members, Yvonne and Patricia, Members were thrilled to hear about all the exciting projects and experiences that they had been involved with over the years.

Members were treated to some delicious scones from Sophie’s Tearooms and everyone received a commemorative tote bag to remember the perfect celebration.

A spokesperson said “what a marvellous achievement! Forty years. I am delighted to be a part of Ely City WI and thoroughly enjoy the activities, projects and initiatives I am able to be involved with. Since joining the WI have made so many new friends and have done things that I might not have done previously. Here’s to the next forty years!”.

ECWI have a full and varied programme and is open to women over the age of 18 from all walks of life. As a member you will have access to 11 main meetings a year, all of the sub-groups, our private social media groups and 8 copies of the WI magazine ‘WI Life’ per year.

We meet at Bishop Laney Sixth Form, Downham Road, CB6 2SH on the second Monday of each month, starting at 7.00pm until approximately 9.00pm. The next meeting will be on 8th July 2024.
