EmacsWiki: Pulse Region (original) (raw)
Pulse is a set of routines for fancy pulsing of regions of text in Emacs. For this tool, a “pulse” is for temporary highlighting, but the background color will drift in a smooth fashion from the bright color to the background color. If RGB color manipulation is not available, then the region is highlighted only momentarilly.
Pulse is a part of CollectionOfEmacsDevelopmentEnvironmentTools and can be downloaded from CVS:
The pulse commentary describes the basic programming functions.
Alternately, you can use the command pulse-enable-integration-advice
to enable some simple advice for a wide range of commands, like goto-line
and find-tag
such that they will pulse the target line after they execute.
