No matter who is in office, real change and power comes from community. We keep each other safe. We hold each other’s rage and grief as sacred catalysts. We are each other’s power.

We must remain as whole as possible to face the work ahead. As Indigenous, Black and people of color, our ancestors faced more devastating limitations to their humanity and freedom. We and each of you, our co-conspirators, are built for this moment 🖤

As DEI efforts encounter growing opposition and the stakes of this election year intensify, it’s crucial for organizations to deepen their commitment to racial equity and build strong, resilient teams.
These two upcoming partner trainings address the deep-rooted challenges that we face in this climate—offering actionable tools for advancing equity even amid adversity.
🌟 Building an Equity Container (Oct 29 & Nov 5) equips leaders with the skills to navigate tension, conflict, and harm within their teams. In an environment where DEI efforts are under attack, creating strong relational foundations is essential to sustain the work of dismantling white supremacy. This workshop helps teams strengthen their "equity container," ensuring that the internal dynamics are aligned with their racial justice goals—so they can weather external pressures without losing momentum.
🌟 What Does It Mean to Be Black-Led? (Oct 30) centers on the lived experiences of Black leaders, many of whom face both internal and external challenges, especially in moments of political and social upheaval. As we near the election, understanding and supporting Black leadership is more critical than ever. This training, based on the Black-Led Project report, provides guidance on how to elevate and sustain Black-led organizations.
👉 If you want to continue building workplaces where everyone can thrive, especially during these challenging times, sign up via the links in our bio.

As we recently honored Indigenous Peoples` Day, we`re sharing this powerful illustration from @eloybida (eloybida.com). We’re reminded of the importance of moving beyond symbolic gestures to take meaningful action in support of Indigenous communities 🍂
In this spirit, we`ve launched our second fundraiser to benefit the Piscataway Conoy Tribe, whose land we occupy in the DC region, and their nonprofit, Through Piscataway Eyes. In addition to paying an annual land tax, we are matching donations of up to $5K through the end of November in recognition of National Native American Heritage Month.
We challenge you to stand in solidarity with the Piscataway Conoy Tribe ✊ and invite others in your network (particularly those based in the Washington, DC region) to do the same.

🌍 Indigenous Peoples` Day is a time to reflect, but it’s also a call to commit to deeper action.
For the past two decades, land acknowledgments have become a common practice in honoring Indigenous peoples and their ancestral lands. However, these statements must go further to truly promote healing and justice.
Our new virtual partner training on November 21, Land Back and Land Ack(nowledgement), facilitated by Vance Blackfox of the Cherokee Nation, will explore the history and purpose of land acknowledgments, their respectful delivery, and how the Land Back movement calls for the return of stolen land to Indigenous communities.
💡 In this session, you’ll:
- Gain deeper insight into the Land Back movement and its importance to Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities alike.
- Learn how land acknowledgments can be a pathway to deepen your organization’s solidarity with Indigenous communities.
- Explore how to best engage in the restorative justice practices that the Land Back movement fosters and demands.
Prior attendance of Vance’s Indian 101 training is recommended but not required. When you sign up for Land Back and Land Ack, receive 25% off of your ticket for Indian 101 on November 14.
🔗 Register today and take your commitment to justice for Indigenous peoples beyond words. Link in bio.

We envision a future where nonprofit and philanthropic organizations are characterized by a Race Equity Culture™, meaning they implement and advance race equity internally while advocating for and centering it in work externally.
To achieve that future, we challenge colleagues to adopt specific tactics on the levels at which racism operates.
