The Real technology was fantastic, long before Twitch TV came along. The first edition of the ESWC was broadcast on video to 95,238 fans, and via HLTV and GTV to a further 65,240. Players on stage in front of a live audience, multilingual commentaries, giant screens, cameras on players, timer, live scores, live heartbeats, double pov for duels: modern esports was invented on that day.

…in the Madison Square Garden of New York, Riot Games will reproduce the ESWC staging for the League of Legends Worlds final: a central ring with the two teams facing each other, overlooked by a cube of giant screens for a 360° broadcast.

In 2006, ESWC and Nadeo became partners to give birth to Trackmania Nations ESWC. This first Esports F2P, with a revenue model based on in-game ads, will be played by 6 million people in 2006, and more than 30 million until 2008.

In 2006, the ESWC developed the first HUD for Counter-Strike allowing to see, in real-time overlay, all the players, their weapons, their level of life, as the scores, rounds, and time left on the broadcast. An exclusive first, because we had to wait until 2012 and the release of CS:GO for this data and graphics to be integrated natively in the observer mode – just like ESWC designed it.
