How to beat the Morgott the Omen King in Elden Ring (original) (raw)

Leyndell Royal Capital boss tips and strategy.

Morgott the Omen King is one of the main story-focused main boss fights of Elden Ring.

You can locate Morgott the Omen King near the conclusion of Leyndell, Royal Capital, where he's waiting for you above the city and towards the central tree.

The fight against Morgott the Omen King is arguably one of the toughest in Elden Ring, and so we'd advise using some co-operation for the tough fight ahead, or even a a spirit ash summon to help you on your way to slaying the boss.

How to prepare for Morgott the Omen King

We won't lie: Morgott the Omen King is quite possibly one of the hardest fights in all of Elden Ring, and that's saying something.

Bearing a striking similarity to Margit the Fell Omen, Morgott is basically like a Super Saiyan version of the debut story boss.

Like Margit before him, you'll want to take your toughest physical armor into battle against Morgott the Omen King, because he hits like a truck.

Additionally, make sure to bring Margit's Shackle from Patches to the fight with you, because just like it knocked down and temporarily grounded Margit, it can do the exact same to Morgott in this fight.

We'd also recommend using a Furled Finger Remedy outside of the boss arena.

Even if there aren't any player summon signs there, you'll actually be able to summon in none other than Melina herself for this battle, and she's a dab hand at distracting the boss when you need it.

Morgott the Omen King tips: How to beat Morgott the Omen King

Remember the Holy weapons Margit would summon out of nowhere? You're going to be seeing a lot of that in the fight against Morgott the Omen King. One attack will see the new boss summon a massive spear, and either charge at you like a joust, or slam the spear tip down onto the ground in front of you.

Both strikes can potentially build up Bleed damage, but both are also countered by dodge rolling away from the point of impact at the last possible second.

Morgott also loves to pull off that dagger-hammer combo Margit was so fond of. This time though, the boss will throw two rounds of three daggers at you from a distance, before running in and striking you with the hammer instead of rising up into the air.

To counter this, you simply want to dodge roll sideways to avoid the daggers, and then dodge roll underneath Morgott's hammer strikes so you can get in a decent attack against him.

You'll see plenty of chained combo attacks in the fight against Morgott, and they come thick and fast. The boss will summon the hammer again, and this time whirl around with the hammer in one hand and the sword in the other.

This is probably one of the hardest sequence of attacks to dodge in the entire fight against Morgott the Omen King, so make sure to time your dodges so that you're halfway through them by the time the boss actually hits you.

At roughly half health, Morgott will fall to one knee like he's open for a visceral attack. Back off during this sequence, because he's about to scream and emit a huge shockwave attack, and entire his second phase.

Bubbling points of water will now dot the battlefield, and you've got to be aware not to step into them, or you'll receive damage and be open for successive attacks from Morgott.

In this second phase, the boss can also unleash a hail of Holy swords. He'll summon swords pointing towards the ground above him, and this is your cue to back off, as the swords rain down for a good few seconds around him, but will also fan out in straight lines towards the edge of the battlefield. Try looking slightly up if you're not sure whether you're stood underneath the path of the swords.

Finally, Morgott can infuse his sword with Bleed damage during this phase.

It comes in the form of a big slashing attack, but thankfully it's telegraphed incredibly clearly by the boss holding the tip of his sword back, and dashing towards you. If you dodge just as the blade leave Morgott's hand, you should make it through this attack unscathed.

Morgott the Omen King reward

Finally, when Morgott the Omen King eventually bites the dust, you'll gain a massive 120,000 Runes for your efforts.

You'll also be rewarded with the Remembrance of the Omen King item, which you can take to the Roundtable Hold and exchange for an item, and the Morgott's Great Rune item, which will greatly raise your maximum HP.

Now it's time to continue your journey through The Lands Between, and see what else the main story of Elden Ring has to offer. One thing you may want to do, now that you've felled the Leyndell Royal Capital boss, is to hunt for one of the Haligtree Secret Medallion locations.
