FREE Stand by me Essay (original) (raw)
Stand by Me is a very touching movie about four boys wanting to be heroes in society's eyes. They set out on a two-day voyage to discover a missing body but it turns out to be much more than that. The Voyage is of self-discovery, friendship and growing up. The boys are faced with many difficult dilemmas" weather it be psychological or visual they had each other to look for and to guide. Chris represents me at that age in my life. We certainly have many things in common. .
If these circumstances happened to me at this age I would have done a lot of things just as Chris had. During my early adolescents I was the one who listened to friends problems and always looked out for them. Trying to find the right thing to say when needed was tough but it always rolled right out of my mouth as if it was planned. Just as Chris when he was speaking to Gordie about his education. Chris did not want Gordie to destroy a good thing (his gift of writing) by wanting to go to tech classes instead of college courses. I was the adolescent who always wanted to protect my friends. I would always make amends with them and make them do the same with one another. Just as Chris did when Teddy wanted to dodge the train. He made the shake on it that there were no hard feelings. I was the friend who was close to everyone in the group even though they all knew who my best friend was. I treated them all equal though just as Chris did. He was always there for his friends weather they wanted him there or not. Just as I was and still am. It could be advice they do not want to hear or advice that they need to hear. Either way I was there to make them feel better about themselves. Chris had a prime example when the junkyard guy made fun of Teddy's dad. He told Teddy that he and his dad had a special relationship and that his father was not crazy. Teddy needed to be comforted and Chris was there to help when he had his break down. .
If I were faced with this situation at this age many thing would surprisingly stay the same.
