FREE Television Essay (original) (raw)
One of the most important means of communication of pictures and sounds is the television. It contains many sources that we can learn far away from America such as people, landscapes, and houses, or even view that is going on in Europe, Africa and Asia. However, most of what we learn comes from television is affecting and portraying to American families, societies, traditional and values such as the Jerry Springer Show, NBC 10 News and MTV channel. Television is a huge influence on our daily lives.
First of all, when we mention about the dark realms of talk shows, we should refer to Jerry Springer Show. In the show, it shows the messing up and up-side-down of American societies, families and traditional. For example, "I"m Keeping Your Baby (09/09/2002)" shows the relationship love of two teenagers boy and girl, and the girl has pregnant, and the boy leaves her behind to go with another girl. Or "I"m Pimpy My Daughter (09/12/ 2002)" talks about homosexuality, sex changes, multiple-sex partners, gray, lesbian and incest or unnatural sex between daughter and step-father. Throughout the show, the talker and the audience just want to decrease American society, make the solving families problem more complicated and our traditional becomes less valuable. Personally, I think the Jerry Springer Show doesn't help us knowing things or learning life experience. The show is not only teaching young people doing from right to wrong but also is an entertaining interview with dirt words, immoral, exploitation and opposite sides of spectrum of all American.
Secondly, NBC10 News is an entertainment medium intending to inform the public of current issues in society. It also serves as a program that helps viewers to see issues from different perspectives and functions. For example, NBC10 News contains "Hollywood Access, Weather, Pharmacy, Traffic, Sport, Earth-watch and Extra Show". These shows are helping my dad and his fellows a lot because he is a fish-man so that he needs to know exactly how the weather is going before sail to the ocean, otherwise, during doing his works he can watch the news to know more about information or it may help him to relax after a tired working day.
