Deeb wins NWA Women’s title, first title defense set for AEW Dynamite (original) (raw)
Serena Deeb won the NWA Women’s title tonight on Primetime Live, and the first title defense will be on Dynamite.
Deeb defeated Thunder Rosa to win the championship for the first time. The finish had Rosa in control with a German suplex and a knee strike, but Deeb surprised Rosa by rolling her up for the win. The two shook hands following the match.
Deeb is currently under AEW contract, with the company announcing her signing back in September. On Twitter, Tony Khan announced that the first title defense would take place on Dynamite against Leyla Hirsch.
“Congratulations to the new @nwa Women’s World Champion @SerenaDeeb!” Khan wrote on Twitter. “She’ll make her 1st title defense v. @LegitLeyla on #AEWDynamite tomorrow night, Wednesday on TNT at 8pm ET/7pm CT on a huge show with several big matches on the card! Thank you great fans who make AEW possible!”
Rosa won the championship at the NWA Hard Times iPPV event in Atlanta, Georgia in January, defeating Allysin Kay. She had held the championship for 278 days.
UWN Primetime Live is a collaboration between the NWA, Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, and other promotions under the Championship Wrestling umbrella. NWA titles have been defended on the program in recent weeks. Elijah Burke defeated Zicky Dice to win the NWA Television championship on the October 20 episode.
