Established in 1982
Felixstowe and District Amateur Radio Society (FDARS) is a forward facing inclusive amateur radio club. Based in Suffolk, with members from across East Anglia. Club meetings and activities are centred around our radio shack, situated at former RAF & USAF Martlesham Heath Communications Site. It is now home to Suffolk Aviation Heritage Group Museum and FDARS Shack.

Regular meetings
FDARS meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month (and 5th Monday) - details are published on
our meetings page.
FDARS shack is operational from Easter to October on Sundays - details are published on members groups.io forum
Special event stations
FDARS Special event callsigns: GX4ZFR, GB1FOX and GB2WTM.
Anyone wishing to join FDARS at
one of their special event stations,
is more than welcome.
Activity events
FDARS holds various events open to all people interested in amateur radio.
These range from field weekends, beach portable, DF hunt, construction evenings to public demonstrations of past & present wireless telegraphy at military events.

Please note that FDARS is currently updating it's QSL cards. They will be available via the RSGB QSL Bureau by December 2024.
Weekly 'nets'
FDARS holds a variety of 'nets' each week. The 'nets' are open to all licensed amateur radio people wishing to join in.
An opportunity to get to know fellow amateur radio enthusiasts.

Join FDARS? Our membership is £20. Guests are £3 per visit.
You can join as an FDARS member at any time in the year for just £20 - giving you full acess to all FDARS club activites at no extra fee. Those wishing to visit one of our club meetings, it's just £3 for three visits, after three visits, the £20 full membership fee applies.
Amateur Radio Licence Training
New to the hobby or wishing to progress your amateur radio licence? FDARS offers Amateur Radio Intermediate Licence Training, with Foundation being provided by Essex Hams
Following the 2020 move to online amateur radio licence courses and the removal of practical build elements, FDARS is providing opportunities to learn practical elements of amateur radio: QSO's, soldering, tuning, working various frequencies, antennas etc.
Did you know?
You don't have to be an amateur radio licence holder to join FDARS, just an interest in the amateur radio hobby.
There is no upper age limit. We do allow people under 18 to join, following full consideration by the committee.
