Liverpool Street Station, February 1977 (original) (raw)

Some pictures of Liverpool Street station in London, February 1977 prior to its re-development.

All these pictures were taken as part of a student project in February 1977. I spent a whole day into the evening at the station and my final university presentation was based around the pictures taken on that day.

The pictures were all taken in monochrome on what I think was a Nikormat FT2 35 mm SLR (from the description and pictures on Wikipedia) and I used one of the roof pictures (see the Set for more) with chemical colouring and inserted some of the other pictures in the window panes. I have no record of how this looked now. I just remember that chemical colouring was a major task on its own – computers have revolutionised the process of photography.

Pictures taken at a similar time of St. Pancras station can be found in this set.

Additional (January 2008): I've been back to the negatives again since I have a new better-quality scanner and it is obvious that the pictures were not all taken on the same day. I don't remember this, but it must be so as the individual frames span several different films and they are interspersed with pictures of different things and different locations. I've also uploaded a significant number of new scans to add to the set.

December 2009: Four more scans added to compete the set. I don't think there are anymore now. There are a few which are practically duplicates of some already here - two or more taken in the same location at the same time - I have not added these to the set as they do not add anything new.
