Licence activities

This licence allows you to provide facilities for remote (online) gambling to consumers in Britain.

Regardless of where you are based in the world, you need a licence from us if:

There is a remote operating licence for each type of gambling activity you might want to provide.

This licence allows you to provide facilities for remote (online) gambling to consumers in Britain. It only allows the provision of facilities for betting on virtual races, competitions or other events or processes, other than a game of chance, by means of remote communication (for example, a website).

Where you offer betting on both real events and virtual events, you will also be required to hold the general betting (standard) (real events) operating licence in addition to this licence.

If you are a gambling software business that provides facilities for remote betting but only in circumstances in which you host those facilities through other operators’ platforms, then you may be eligible to hold a general betting (host) operating licence. To hold a host licence, your business:

Current annual fees

Your first annual fee is due 30 days after your licence is issued and is reduced by 25 percent (ancillary and linked licence annual fees are not subject to this reduction).

After this, fees are due every year before the anniversary of the day your licence was issued.
