Answer-
No, a simple jab of a knife can not kill a tree. It has to go through several processes. It will sprout again if its root is not removed from the Earth.
Que 2. How has the tree grown to its full size? List the words suggestive of its life and activity.
Answer-
By consuming the earth, feeding upon its crust, and absorbing years of sunlight, air & water the tree has grown to its full size. The words about the tree's life & activity are: absorbing, feeding, rising, consuming & sprouting.
Que 3. What is the meaning of “bleeding bark”? What makes it bleed?
Answer-
The “bleeding bark” means that the tree has been cut. Just like when humans are wounded, they bleed blood trees release a liquid at the place where they are cut. So, the tree bleeds.
Que 4. The poet says “No” at the beginning of the third stanza. What does he mean by this?
Answer-
The poet says ''No’' in order to emphasize the idea that chopping or hacking will not be sufficient for killing a tree.
Que 5. What is the meaning of “anchoring earth” & “earth cave”?
Answer-
“Anchoring earth” means the earth protects it like a mother. ‘Earth Cave’ means a hole inside it. The tree by allowing its roots to spread underneath & the earth protects & fostering it by providing all the essential ingredients to the tree.
Que 6. What does he mean by “the strength of the tree exposed”?
Answer-
He means to say that while trying to pull out the tree along with its roots that are spread deep inside the earth, one gets to know about the tree's strength.

Answer-
When the tree ispulled out from the mother earth & separated from it. One subjects it to scorching & choking it in the sun's heat which ultimately kills the tree.
