Yesterday, March 15, 2025, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America continued his Archpastoral visit to New Orleans, Louisiana. Beginning the day with a working breakfast, he met with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise as well as Louisiana businessman and philanthropist John Georges.

Following these meetings, the Archbishop visited the National WWII Museum, where he was offered a tour of the exhibits and himself offered a heartfelt memorial prayer for the “hundreds of thousands of American soldiers…who perished in the harsh realities of war.”

The parish community of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral then welcomed the Archbishop back to the church for a Doxology service and luncheon. At the Doxology, His Eminence addressed the parish as the “Mother Church of Greek Orthodoxy in the Americas, rightly made a Cathedral as a rank of honor,” reflecting on how “philoxenia, hospitality…is what this Cathedral is all about, the welcoming in Christ of all, to the glories of our Holy Orthodox Church.”

Finally, His Eminence concluded this second day of his visit to New Orleans by attending a fundraising event for Holy Trinity’s Cathedral Montessori School, where he learned about the school’s mission of standing “as a testament to Holy Trinity’s local commitment and global perspective.”
