really liked it

A book from the "60's" and what wonderful writing. David Storey's descriptions of an industrial Northern town just captures the essence of life. I chose this book for our reading group and the discussion centred around the very same issues of sport and violence that David Storey wrote about over 50 years ago ! How slow we are to learn from earlier generations if in fact we ever do learn. I think that we just do more talking to avoid tackling very difficult issues
