Trump: Iran war will be 'over quickly,' nuclear weapon 'cannot be allowed'

U.S. President Donald Trump said he expects the conflict involving Iran to be "over quickly," linking ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz to efforts to reach a deal over Tehran's nuclear program.

Gulf states: Iran's claim UAE ‘created many problems’ is baseless

The Gulf Cooperation Council said Iran's accusations against the United Arab Emirates are "baseless" and reaffirmed its solidarity with Abu Dhabi, calling the claims part of Tehran's escalating regional rhetoric.

The bloc, which includes six Gulf states, responded Thursday overnight, after Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei accused the UAE earlier this week of cooperating with the United States and Israel and "creating problems" for regional security and Gulf unity.

Israel's security chiefs reject U.S. deal with Iran, source tells Haaretz

Israel's security establishment unanimously opposes a U.S. agreement with Iran, believing it would be "a disaster for Israel," a security source told Haaretz.

According to the source, Israeli defense chiefs believe Iran would deceive the United States, rush to acquire nuclear weapons as soon as it is able, and seize control of the billions of dollars that will be made available to it under the agreement.

These warnings are also voiced in the security discussions held by the country's political leadership, according to the source.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said the Israeli military struck the commander of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

"No terrorist has immunity - Israel's long arm will reach every enemy and murderer," Netanyahu said. "We promised to bring security to the residents of the north - this is how it's done, and this is how it will be done!"

The strike, which hit the Haret Hreik neighborhood in Beirut's southern suburbs, also known as the Dahiyeh, is Israel's first attack on the Lebanese capital since U.S. President Donald Trump declared a cease-fire in Lebanon on April 16.

U.S. fired at Iranian oil tanker in international waters, CENTCOM says

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces fired at an Iranian-flagged oil tanker in international waters for attempting to sail to an Iranian port.

"American forces issued multiple warnings and informed the Iranian-flagged vessel it was in violation of the U.S. blockade," CENTCOM said, adding that the crew "failed to comply."

CENTCOM said an F/A-18 fighter jet from the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier fired at the tanker, adding that it "is no longer transiting to Iran." The tanker was empty, the military said.
