Brat Unveils Fall Slate Featuring More ‘Chicken Girls,’ Competition Series ‘Talent Show’ (Exclusive) (original) (raw)

Teen media company Brat has unveiled its fall slate of programming.

The one-year-old company, which operates a YouTube channel with 2.1 million subscribers, is premiering five shows during the first week of September to kick off its fall programming schedule.

In addition to several returning shows, Brat is also introducing The Talent Show, a competition series where fans will vie for a spot on Brat’s roster of talent. Over 2,000 entrants have already submitted audition tapes.

“Our first year was all about finding an audience,” said Brat co-founder Rob Fishman. “Now, with millions of dedicated viewers, we need to keep them engaged and entertained.”

Chicken Girls is among the shows returning to Brat. In its third season, Rhyme (Annie LeBlanc) and her friends enter high school, where they meet new friends, confront new enemies and try out for a country & western-themed musical. The first two seasons of Chicken Girls have amassed 150 million views on YouTube and the spawned feature-length film Chicken Girls: The Movie. The new season is being directed by Nayip Ramos and will feature a few new castmembers, including Jay Ulloa (La Banda), Sissy Sheridan (Maniac) and Isabel Marcus (This Is Us).

Also returning is the fantasy series Total Eclipse, which stars Mackenzie Ziegler (Dance Moms) and Lauren and Johnny Orlando. The new season, which also features Emily Skinner (Andi Mack), was written by Meg Favreau and directed by Chris Campbell. Logan Pepper and Bryce Xavier are joining the cast.

Other returning shows include Dirt, a gritty look at the world of motocross racing, and Mani, starring Hayley LeBlanc and Piper Rockelle.

Brat announced last month that it had raised $30 million in funding led by Anchorage Capital. Other backers include Shari Redstone’s Advancit Capital, Lerer Hippeau Ventures and NBA player Kevin Durant.
