Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, Usher, Jay-Z and Selena Gomez are some of the music stars who scored major Emmy nominations for the 2024 Emmys.

Billy Joel: The 100th — Live at Madison Square Garden earned four nominations Wednesday, including outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) for Joel, who has won five Grammys and a Tony. Richie picked up a nomination for outstanding documentary or nonfiction special as an executive producer of The Greatest Night in Pop, which earned two other nominations. Richie has won an Oscar and four Grammys.

Gomez is a double nominee for Only Murders in the Building, including her first for outstanding lead actress in the comedy series. Her second nod is as one of the executive producers of the TV show in the outstanding comedy series category. Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino earned acting, writing and producing bids for Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

The Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show Starring Usher earned three nominations, including outstanding variety special (live), which means Usher, who has eight Grammys, has earned his first-ever Emmy nomination. He shares it with Emmy winners Jay-Z and Jesse Collins, who earned a second nomination in the same category for executive producing the 2024 Grammy Awards with fellow EP Ben Winston and producer-host Trevor Noah.

Lady Gaga’s Gaga Chromatica Ball was surprisingly snubbed while The Weeknd’s heavily panned series, The Idol, turned heads with a single nomination for outstanding choreography for scripted programming for choreographer Nina McNeely. Bruce Springsteen and Bad Bunny were also snubbed in the guest comedy acting category for Curb Your Enthusiasm and Saturday Night Live, respectively.

Hans Zimmer earned three Emmy nominations, including outstanding original music and lyrics for “Love Will Survive” from The Tattooist of Auschwitz. His competition includes Maya Rudolph for “Maya Rudolph Mother’s Day Monologue” from Saturday Night Live; Sara Bareilles for “The Medium Time” from Girls5eva; and John Hawkes for “No Use” from True Detective: Night Country. Oscar-, Emmy- and Grammy-winning duo Pasek & Paul round out the nominees and could become EGOTs this year; they’re nominated for “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” from Only Murders In The Building, sharing the nod with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Nine Inch Nails’ Atticus Ross, who has won two Oscars, two Grammys and an Emmy alongside bandmate Trent Reznor, scored two nominations for his musical work on Shogun, which leads all shows with a whopping 25 nominations.

Two-time Emmy winner Rickey Minor is a double nominee for outstanding music direction for The Oscars and The 46th Kennedy Center Honors; that category also includes Fred Armisen for Late Night with Seth Meyers and the team of Adam Blackstone and Don Was for 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala scored a single nomination for outstanding picture editing for variety programming, while STAX: Soulsville U.S.A. earned two nominations, including outstanding documentary or nonfiction series. The Voice picked up five nominations, bringing its career total to 81 nominations and eight wins.

The 76th Emmys are set to air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 5-8 p.m. PT / 8-11 p.m. ET on ABC.
