Coldplay Reveals Intimate Live Shows for ‘Ghost Stories’ Launch (original) (raw)

Just don’t call it the “Conscious Uncoupling” Tour.

Coldplay have unveiled their first run of live shows in support of the band’s new studio album, Ghost Stories.

The British alternative rock group will play six “intimate” shows in a trek that visits Germany, the U.S., France, Japan and the U.K. The itinerary, as it stands, will start on April 25 at E-Werk in Cologne, and then move to N.Y., L.A., Paris, Tokyo and London.

Tickets for the Cologne show will go on sale on April 19 from www.eventim.de/coldplay, while ticket information for the remaining five shows will be emailed exclusively to subscribers to the band’s mailing list at Coldplay.com.

Coldplay has played just a handful of dates in recent years, including a 50-minute slot at the iTunes Festival at SXSW in March. They’ve not embarked on a sizeable run since their 80-date Mylo Xyloto tour wrapped in December 2012. During the Australian leg of that tour, frontman Chris Martin told onlookers at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium that they wouldn’t play another “big show for a few years.” With the smaller capacity of venues on this upcoming run (the Royal Albert Hall is the largest, with a 5,000 capacity), Martin remains true to his word.
