Temple Hill Inks First-Look TV Deal With Lionsgate (original) (raw)
Temple Hill Entertainment, the Twilight movie franchise producer founded by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, has signed a first-look TV deal with Lionsgate.
Known for its successful book-to-film adaptations, including James Dashner’s The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Temple Hill will work with the Hollywood studio to develop and produce premium scripted series for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.
The multiyear deal, unveiled by Lionsgate Television Group chairman Kevin Beggs, expands the studio’s relationship with Temple Hill after working together on movies like the Twilight franchise, Power Rangers, Uncle Drew and Down a Dark Hall.
Temple Hill has a separate first-look film deal with Paramount Pictures, and the tie-up with Lionsgate follows a first-look deal with MRC Studios on the TV side. Godfrey recently rejoined the company after serving as president of Paramount’s Motion Picture Group.
“Temple Hill has been part of the Lionsgate family for years, and we’re incredibly excited to expand our relationship into the world of television,” said Lionsgate executive vp television and head of development Scott Herbst.
Temple Hill’s TV credits include Mr. Mercedes, based on the Stephen King books; ABC’s Revenge; Hulu’s Looking for Alaska; HBO’s The Outsider; Dave on FXX/Hulu; and Love, Victor on Hulu.
“After working with Lionsgate on the film side, we knew a partnership with their television group would be equally exciting and rewarding,” Temple Hill head of television Adam Fishbach said in his own statement.
Fishbach works on the TV front with director of development Julie Waters.
