Yoko Ono Tweets Photo of John Lennon’s Bloody Glasses With Anti-Gun Statement (original) (raw)
Yoko Ono commemorated what would have been her 44th anniversary with her late husband John Lennon on Wednesday by posting an anti-gun message paired with an image of the former Beatle’s blood-stained glasses.

“The death of a loved one is a hollowing experience. After 33 years our son Sean and I still miss him,” she wrote on Twitter. In the image that accompanied the statement, a pair of bloodied glasses — allegedly worn by Lennon at the time of his murder — is set against a Manhattan backdrop.
“Over 1,057,000 people have been killed by guns in the U.S.A. since John Lennon was shot and killed on December 8, 1980,” a message on the photo reads.
The 80-year-old activist posted several messages relating to gun violence, including a call to action for filmmaker Michael Moore. “Michael Moore @mmflint Join me to kick off a mass movement against gun violence from your living room on Sat March 23 – Yes! Love, yoko,” she wrote**.**

The image posted Wednesday is from the cover of Ono’s 1981 album, Season of Glass, which was released less than six months after Lennon’s death. The British rocker was gunned down in front of his New York City apartment, where Ono still lives, by Mark David Chapman. Lennon was 40.
