• An explosion on a railway track in Quetta, Pakistan, killed at least 24 people and injured over 50 others, according to reports on Sunday.
• The blast derailed a cargo train, causing two of its cars to overturn and catch fire, and was subsequently followed by gunfire.
• The attack took place in an area where security forces are usually stationed, resulting in significant damage to nearby buildings and vehicles.
• The outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which advocates for independence from Pakistan's central government, claimed responsibility for the incident, stating they targeted a train carrying security personnel.
• Quetta is the capital of Balochistan province, an oil- and mineral-rich region with a history of insurgency, and authorities have launched an investigation into the explosion.
