Telangana Finance Minister Harish Rao on Wednesday said that Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Revanth Reddy will soon be behind bars in the cash for vote case against him.

Rao’s statement came a day after the Supreme Court dismissed the plea filed by Reddy in the 2015 cash for vote case seeking to allow cross-examination of all the witnesses. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had named Reddy in the case during its ongoing probe.

“You have all seen what Revanth Reddy did and what he was when he was a part of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He tried to buy the MLAs and was caught by the ED. Then he tried his best not to get prosecuted. He said don't arrest me, and took the case to the High Court,” Rao said while addressing a public meeting in Kodangal.

“Yesterday the SC stated that the case will move forward, dismissing his plea. The SC has decided that the court will hear the case. Meaning, today or tomorrow or the day after, the interrogation happening in this case is certain. Him going to jail is also certain,” the minister added.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday trashed Revanth Reddy’s plea, which had challenged the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court’s decision to reject his request in 2021. Reddy had thereafter approached the Supreme Court, which had stayed the lower court proceedings.

On Tuesday, a Supreme Court bench of justices Sanjiy Khanna and SVN Bhatti dismissed Revanth Reddy’s petition and said the Telangana High Court would decide the matter. The ACB court may now re-commence the trial.
